Fighting fraud

If you think you may have been a victim of fraud, or you suspect an incident of insurance fraud, here's what you should do

GDEFL takes fraud very seriously and works with prevention agencies, the police and other insurers to help detect and prevent fraud on a daily basis.

Report a suspected fraud

To report suspected insurance fraud or a dishonest claim

  • Contact the Insurance Fraud Bureau on their Cheatline: 0800 5147 5203. Calls to this number are free and you can remain anonymous.

  • Read what the Association of British Insurers has to say about insurance fraud and how it affects all honest customers.

  • It’s important to act quickly if you think your bank account or card details have been used without your permission

  • Contact your bank, credit card, or financial institution to tell them what’s happened. They often deal with these matters and will work through the next steps with you to set things right;

  • Report the incident to the UK’s national fraud reporting centre, Action Fraud, by visiting their website. Your case will go to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau overseen by the City of London Police who will give you a crime reference number.

  • Unidentified payment on your bank statement?

    If any of the following references appears on your bank statement, we've listed the numbers you can call to query it.

    If it turns out that someone is fraudulently using your payment details to set up a policy with RSA or one of our partners in the list below, we will work with your financial institution throughout the investigation to help resolve the matter.
