Our History

We’ve been helping to shape the world of insurance for more than 300 years.
A lot has changed, but our commitment to customers remains the same.

We're following in the footsteps of our founder, Charles Povey. In 1710, he established our pioneering insurance company, known then as The Sun Fire Office. His aim was to protect people’s livelihoods by making things better when the worst happened. And that still holds true today.
